Kelly Toughill

She was a senior writer and editor at The Toronto Star, and director of the School of Journalism at the University of King’s College before turning to fiction. Her journalism has won awards in Canada and the United States, including a National Newspaper Award, and is widely available online and in the archives of leading publications such as The Globe and Mail, Walrus Magazine, More Magazine, and Monogram. Her speculative fiction has been published by Bards and Sages Quarterly and the Hamilton Public Library and has been honored by Writers of the Future and the Hamilton Reads Short Story Contest.

Born in Washington D.C., Kelly has lived in the United States, Brazil, Canada, and Mexico. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from San Francisco State University and a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University in Ontario.

She mostly lives in Ontario, where she enjoys wading in creeks, playing music with friends, and sharing meals with family.
